im pretty sure they decided not to, i think that one of the producers said that they had the option of either making it with multiplayer (split screen) or multiplayer (online) and wallaa they chose online

the multiplayer will rock! (although i wish they had split screen multiplayer) and so will one player.... one thing that this game needs however is a headset for voicechat....
