This is a month old but didnt see it on the forum

http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/storysupplement/wiiremote/index.htm

It show the inner workings of the wiimote, including an audio translator. I'm presuming its so you can use the wiimote as a microphone. Let me know what you think

Apparently the audio translator is just ready for a future upgrade for the mic add-on when it comes.
You will plug the mic in the bottom of the Wiimote then the audio translator then knows what to do with the transmitted sound.

There are loads of images about the web with concept mic add-ons for the Wiimote but the one I like best the look of is:

as for price... think that nintendo make a profit selling it to the the resaler... pushing up price... and then the retailer make the profit... so price is pushed up a minimum of two times... to cover the companies profits...

yeah... but nintendo make their profit on that... maybe sell it to a retailer at about $20... and then the retailer puts their profit on it and sell it for what they want... (but this chain doesn't show a wholesaler in the middle)
