Sonic the Hedgehog. If any third party character could rival Mario, you've found him. A fast running, botnik destroying ball'o'spikes. Anyway, onto the review.

Graphics

Sonic 2 has very bright, happy backgrounds to dark gloomy ones too. Sprites here are drawn very well, and look great. For it's time, Sonic 2 had some pretty amazing graphics. But, they can be very cartoonish and childish at times. The graphics in this game, though, are done very well. Each level has different looks, and moods. An example is the first stage. A green, happy hilltop. Compared to Stage 2, a dark, gloomy factory, or something similar. A great contrast.

Sound:

I personally love the music in this game. Each level has music that perfectly matches. For example, Stage 4: Casino Night, has a very flashy background, with very casino-like music. It has matching slot f/x too, just to name a couple.

The sound effects are great, including a slow, "Game Over" tune to a fast paced " Your gonna DROWN!!" tune.

Gameplay

Mm. Back to the good old days. This game consists of a very high speed version of get from Point Α to Point Β. You play as Sonic or Tails, or both, as you run through 3 "Acts" per stage, collecting rings, destroying robots, and on Act 2/3, beating a boss. A collect the rings bonus game unlocked after collecting 50 rings, and touching a checkpost. Beating all these games get's you··· i'll let you figure it out. This game is a refreshing change from Mario. A great game.

Replay Value

The only thing to really do after completing the game is trying to beat your scores and try and unlock a "Golden Surprise"
5.5/10

So overall i'll give this an 8.0/10, so pick it up on your Wii VC or pop it back into your Genises, a great game.
