Looks fine GF. It just sux that you are stuck in a board with no pci x. The 12 pipe gs is good, but the 16 pipe gt only cost $30 more (but in pci x only). And with the pci x sli board you can buy another down the road for some dual card lovin.

If you can throw your cpu into a socket 754 or 939 board, I would really consider getting a cheap nforce 4 board with sli. Then you can buy the 6800gt and have a 16 pipe card in a board that is just beggin for another little friend.

My opinion.

I might be wrong, but I think that you can do it (without the bridge between the cards). The cards can technically run in sli without the bridge, but performance is poor because the pci bus becomes saturated. I read that in this month's maximum pc.

However, chances are that if you have a current gen pci x card, then it will have dual video outs. Unless you want triple or quad monitors, you shouldn't need two pci x cards.

Two pci x cards of different types should, in theory, work. Remember the good old days of running an agp card and a pci card to have a 1337 dual 17" monitor setup?

well considering I'm running an FX5200 256mb card at the moment anything will be better....and as for putting in a new mother board...eh thats just too much bitch work...and more money I would spend...because if I did that then I would want to put in a new cpu
