Online surveys - Scams

There are many companies on the internet which promise to reward or pay you for various activities. Some require you to read e-mails, click links or to complete online surveys, while others require you to participate in investment programs or to shop via their website. These types of website are known as "get paid" programs, and this is the focus of this forum.

Many users have found that by joining and participating in these "get paid" programs it is possible to earn some extra money each month. This reflects the fact that most online "get paid" programs are honest and pay their members as promised. However, there are other sites which look to take advantage of their users by acting dishonestly, improperly or fraudulently.

The aim of this forum is to name the offending 'get-paid' companies, and to urge visitors to stop using them. If you're tired of companies stealing your time and money, and if you want to know which sites to avoid, take a look around, and help us stamp out fraudulent behaviour online!

AWSURVEYS IS A SCAM

AWSurveys is a paid survey site offering a signup bonus of $6, surveys worth $1 and $25 and a $75 minimum payout. The site's Terms state that payments will be made within six weeks, depending on the method of payment chosen, though the complaints which follow show this not to be the case.

The first reason that AWSurveys is on the list is simply the non-payment of members. The complaints detail how members who have reached the minimum payout amount are not being paid according to the site's own Terms of Service. Support e-mails have not been responded to, members have not been paid, and so this program rightly belongs on the list.

The second reason that AWSurveys is on the list is the use of deceptive business practices. Many complainants note that upon reaching the minimum payment amount, or close to it, their account has been closed or suspended for "cheating", violation of Terms, or without reason.

Others have found it impossible to take any more surveys once they have earned a certain figure, below the minimum payment amount. It is clear that this practice is too widespread among our complainants to be attributed solely to real cheating or accidental breaches of the site's Terms. The practice of accusing members of cheating in order to withhold payments is both deceptive and dishonest, and must not be tolerated.

BUX / BUX3 IS A SCAM

Bux.to is a paid-to-click site offering 1 cent per paid click, a $10 payout minimum and a 5 cent signup bonus. The site also offers referral earnings, and even gives members the chance to purchase referrals. The site notes that payments are made "within 30 business days" [Update 13 Jan 2008: Now 60 days for non-upgraded members].

The reason that Bux.to is on the list is the non-payment of members. The complaints detail how members who have reached the minimum payout amount are not being paid according to the site's own Terms of Service. Some of those members have had their accounts deleted. Support e-mails have not been properly responded to, members have not been paid, and so this program rightly belongs on the list.

There are a number of other supporting reasons for this. The Bux.to site has been plagued with accusations that their script was stolen from another site, AdBux. More importantly for members, the site appears to survive solely by selling "unreferred" members. For the "extremely low price" of $459.00 members can buy sets of 500 referrals in order to boost their earnings. Many have commented that the site seems more concerned with promoting the sale of unreferred members than actually providing paid clicks for members, or more importantly paying members.

This is a great service you're doing for the community. But do you think you could put up some of the sites that DO work instead of just the ones that don't. I don't really use any survey or paid sites, so I'm not sure what kind of service and honesty they have.

Yes there are also sites which pay. I have only found a few which actually pay.

ones i've used that work:
ipoints
prizerebel
gaminglagoon

Are you just saying that so you'll get referral points, or do they actually work? Because as far as I know in order to complete one of the things you have to go to some other site and fill out their form, and to another and fill out their form, and again, and again.

The ones he is putting up are refferals, no one i know actually has one or received a prize from one of those. The lightspeed panell doesn't have refferals.
