LCD vs CRT

Just wondering what types of displays you guys and girls have running. The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking of upgrading my current 17" CRT. It's like 12 years old and starting to flicker. I had my eye on a couple of low response time LCD's, but I'm not convinced yet. I never trust a sales pitch. Let me know what you guys have experienced in terms of LCD's and CRT's and gaming. Your input is appreciated.

I love my Samsung Flat 17 inch LCD. CRT are to big and bulky. The LCD I have with my BFI video card is good enough. Now only if I could find a good Hack, I'll be ready to go Cheers!

I switched from a 21 inch trinitron to a 15 inch CRT. Mostly because of weight reasons, that 80lb sony was causing my desk to bow.

My Sony 20 inch crt is the shit, but lcd is the way to go. Lcds are just as good or better then crt's (only buy new not the old ones).

I have a 19" CRT Dell monitor. I want a LCD but I know that for gaming it sort of sucks. My kids both have 19" LCD's and I don't like the colors or the flicker. If you got LCD make sure to pay for a good one if you want quality gaming.

I red some reviews...this looks like it's the best(if you can fork over about 600 USD): http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showpost.php?p=2265445&postcount=19

If power cunsumption, space, weight and bragging rights don't matter go CRT.

What matters the most : whats your budget?

remember with LCD's they need to run at native resolution, so if you are seriously planning on switching you need to make sure that the graphic card you are using plays at that resolution acceptable.

That is easy enough to do, try gaming at 1280x1024 or 1600x1200.

Ok heres my view on it for you. I had played with a CRT my whole life until I came to college here. Even though the CRT was Bulky, the Game play was a hell of alot better. I was awesome with the CRT. Then I switched to this 17" Dell Ultrasharp LCD and I sucked so bad. CRT's are the better gaming display to have. Its just nice to not have something so bulky to lug to school or to LAN parties. the LCD's aren't as bright either, I have to play with the blinds closed usually to do well.

When I play any game on a LCD screen I hate it.

It looks like shit and its dull looking.

I guess if you were to spend a crap load of cash you could get a nice one, but you could spend so much less and get a big jamma jamma CRT.

I gotta take a shit.
