Overall, I pretty much loathe anime, but I've seen a few things that were good:

Akira
Ninja Scroll
Samurai 7 - I'm a HUGE Kurosawa fan & this adaptation of The Seven Samurai is actually pretty good. I'm only partway through the series right now...

I still prefer to stick to the live action films and TV shows though.

Samurai Seven is EPIC, and now i passed to watch gore series lol, that HELLSING ULTIMATE thing is sick but actually pretty good...
