It's a racoon that dies in the beginning. The monkey is called Spike.

Both are really funny movies, love them both.

I remember watching the first in the cinema (i think) and then getting number 2 on VHS when it first came out..my parents got me it i was so excited..almost as much as the N64 KID (that kid on youtube that gets a N64 for xmas and goes nuts!!!) Hahaha!
