Screen turning black.

When ever i get hit by fire or gas my screen goes black!?!? Ive seen in videos that my screen is supposed to flash orange for fire and purple for gas, but my screen goes completely black! And i cant see anything, but it still showes the map so i have to navigate my self using thr map to a safe place untill the Fire/Gas wears out and hopes nobody kills me. What is wrong? Is it my graphics card? I use a Windows vista basic laptop.

Its your graphics card. my laptop does the same thing. I suggest getting a new graphics card.

Try Reinstalling the game first before getting a new Graphics card.
If reinstalling the game doesnt help I guess you will have to get a new graphics card or use another computer.

oh ok thx, but the problem is that i cant change the graphics card for my computer so im screwed D:<
