PS2 problem

I have few years old PS2. Some new games I have bought don't work well with this console. I don't know why. My friend's console plays these games well, but mine doesn't. My friend's console is bought one year later.

Does somebody have that kind of problems or know why my console doesn't play new games well? Can someone help me?

We both have the big ones and yes, I think there's different hardware inside these consoles. But I think that if there stands in the PS2 game box that the game works with PS2, it should work with any hardware of PS2. So can I somehow update my hardware or what I should do?

You shouldn't have to update. You might want to take a can of air and clear the console of any dust.

air can can work but its like the 360 they upgrade some stuff inside the system thats unnotice to us b/c it will make future games work better. even though the old systems still work with the new games
