Upgraded Items/Weapons

i nid help... do you know how to make upgraded items... jus like recipes, but i want my item NOT to be automatically manipulated by hero.. i want it to buy first at the shop before i can have it.. just like in dota! u will buy the 1st and 2nd item and then u will buy the combination of these two items... do u know how can i do that? pls help! thanks!
