Skinning on a mac

Hey there, i know there a some people out there, whether just guests viewing or possibly some members that would love to mod Warcraft 3 but cant because of their Operating System. I too know how those people feel, but it is possible and ill give you some guidelines on how to do it.

The Skinning Process

Think of a skin you want to make, like a goblin.
Open the MPQ2K or Diablo MPQ tool program and open the file War3.mpq and find a units texture, you will know because it will refer to the name of the unit ingame, so like if you want to texture a ghoul you would find it as Units\Undead\Ghoul\Ghoul.blp or maybe its Textures\Ghoul.blp and export the skin to a folder you can easily find, say desktop maybe.

Now that you have extracted the Skin, you must open it with the BLP Tools program i provided a link to earlier and it will show you a small picture of the skin or texture in the box. then go to file and go to Save As and select as a Targa File. The open the file in the texture editing program you selected at the beginning.

Texture the skin, and try to stay within the boundaries of the original ghouls skin, so your basically going over only the top of it, but dont worry, slightly going off boundaries doesnt make a difference.

Once you have finished making your changes FLIP it VERTICALLY, save the file as a Targa Texture, 32 Bit i think, and if it doesnt work saveas a 26 or 24 Bit. In photoshop there is no need to flip the image.

Open the Skin once again in BLP Tools and if the skin is upside-down, you forgot to flip it, anyways re-flip it again. If the skin is not upside-down, save the skin as a BLP warcraft texture file.

Then open your world editor and go to the Import Manager and import your skin. Double click the imported file and change the path to the path the skin originally was, right back in the beginning when you extracted it (Units\Undead\Ghoul\Ghoul or Textures\Ghoul) and save the editor. Now quit the editor and re-open it again. Load your map and look at the unit you skinned over, and there should be your beutiful new skin. Have fun guys :infernal: ;)
