Ok im a bit stuck here, im planning to get my Wii chipped within the next week, but i want to purchase the internet channel and a few games now but as i havent upgraded the system software i cant access the wii shop channel and i cant upgrade it because then i wont be able to mod it? Am i wrong?

You can mod your Wii right up to 2.2 Firmware. After a mod is installed you can upgrade to 3.0 firmware.
Most chips work after installing them on an already 3.0 upgraded Wii but WiiKey is the one having the most trouble working. Its fine if fitted before 3.0 update.
