I mean, there are a lot better shields throughout the game which you could have replaced it with. I personally use his family shield a long time too, but when I find a better shield, I quickly replace it. Mostly those shields are either Saving Grace +3 (or was it +2?) and later (if I don't use a shield) with the Dragon Shield, which has completely similar abilities as his family shield, except that the AC is lower. I currently made him immune for most kind of elemental magics, partly thanks to the Dragon Shield (and armor, ring, boots and some other stuff too ).
There is a two-handed sword somewhere that renders the user completely immune to all psionic attacks of the Mind Flayer. I can't wait to get it again. :P Despite that they are a lot easier by the time you reach ToB, they are still a big pain during my quest throughout the Underdark. I am hesitating if I am going through the dungeon of the Mind Flayers. I can always use more experience, and it's been a long time since I've been there. I just fought three of them in the Beholder cave, and despite that they attacked Mazzy with several psionic blasts, she made a saving throw against them all. Meaning that I either have an abnormal lot of luck - which is not too common for me - or Mazzy has a high saving throw against those kind of stuff. Nice weapons, I have to admit that, but I (still) don't like the team. :P I'm surprised you still use the Delryn family shield though. I currently made him immune for most kind of elemental magics, partly thanks to the Dragon Shield (and armor, ring, boots and some other stuff too :P).
