I was bored with Jan and Nalia (Imoen is an exception) as a thief and really wanted a new one. The thief/mage class should fit nicely with Haer'Dalis as well. I'm just not sure if he likes being in the same party as Viconia.</p><p><a href="http://img342.imageshack.us/img342/2572/02ro9.jpg" target="_blank"><img width=\"501\" class=\"attach\" src=\"http://img342.imageshack.us/img342/2572/02ro9.jpg\" border='0' alt=\"IPB Image\" /></a></p><p></p><p>Haer'Dalis has some nice natural resistences, as can be seen on the picture above. They show nicely that he has <em>some</em> advantages above other characters. But it's hard to take him along for his spells, normally, as there are far better mages in the game than him. He cannot even be compared to any fighter-type in the game, partly because of his low constitution and it's a waste to use him as a distraction. The only real advantage of him was his bard song, but considering that it doesn't get better with the levels (Blade), it's quite pointless to take him for that as well. </p><p></p><p>The resistences he has doesn't make up for all his other weaknesses, though it should be possible to give him quite a load of immunities by the time ToB is reached. </p><p></p><p>In order to get Haer'Dalis join my team, I quickly had to leave for the Temple District after getting out of <em>Jon's</em> dungeon. Saving him proved to be harder than I expected. My idea was to fight Mekrath in combat for his robe, - not that it is such a good robe, but during that time in the game, I can't purchase a good one yet - but his 'Death' spell proved to be fatal every single time. After a little hesitation, I finally decided to help him find his <em>mirror</em> again. That, also, brought its own kind of trouble The <em>Lesser Earth Elemental</em> that was protecting the foul imp proved to be immune to normal weapons. Unfortunately, during that time, the only enchanted weapon I carried was a Warhammer +2. My team of Anomen, Jaheira and myself was far from impressive as well.</p><p>Upon attaining the mirror, I immediately left to the mage again and enjoy my reward, both Haer'Dalis, my first necklace (+5 vs Polymorph), a <em>Wand of Lightning</em> and the real reward, <em>The Rod of Ressurection.</em> Haer'Dalis felt like a bonus, but his <em>Gem</em> was quickly achieved as well.</p><p></p><p>I left immediately to the Umar Hills upon saving Haer'Dalis. When I would get Mazzy, I would have a complete team of five people, leaving one position open for other characters who could be taken along just for their own personal quest... and the experience. Upon entering the village, the former bard immediately started to complain that we had to return to the <em>Five Flagons Inn</em> in order to finish his quest. Even though I was willing to do so, I first had to find Mazzy. Because I didn't want to leave my <em>third</em> fighter (Haer'Dalis) while traveling through a dungeon (I experienced Nalia leaving my team while doing the Planar Sphere. I guess she didn't mind being on a different plane), I decided not to rest throughout the dungeon. Especially by the time I reached the Shade Lord, I noticed that I was running out of spells. After being killed twice by the Shade Lord, I finally managed to defeat them, save Mazzy and immediately return to the Bridge District to fulfill my promise to the now thief/mage.</p><p></p><p>Everything went normally, and the <em>Warden</em> was quickly disposed off. I forgot his stun spells, and ended up reloading every time he managed to stun my main character. This is usually not a quest I do early on unless being a bard, which I rarely am. Her low strength can easy be changed with <em>Renald's</em> Girdle. That doesn't make her good enough to be placed on the frontlines. Normally, I'd place her behind the fighters (in a T formation) but that's also during the time when I took a different thief with me. Despite that Haer'Dalis isn't the most toughest guy around, he does just fine against the somewhat weaker enemies and can protect himself and Viconia just right when sitting behind Mazzy, Anomen and myself, a Ranger/cleric. </p><p></p><p>I am still waiting for Viconia's first romance talk, but that will undoubtly come. </p><p></p><p>After forming my team of Mazzy, Anomen, Haer'Dalis and Viconia, I already received the contact of Anomen, hearing that his sister died. At the same time, I found the <em>Poisend Harper</em> who's name I've forgotten. Without too much haste, I left towards the Delryn estate to let Anomen mourn for his sister and convincing him not to take his revenge on Saerk. The Harper's were also pleased that I brought their friend back and quickly let me enter after I received my objective of Xzar. The house with the monsters was already disposed off before I even came close to the <em>Harper's Hold</em>.</p><p>This all went as it should, but I quicly learned that I was running out of gold after I bought the <em>Robe of Vecna</em>, the <em>Girdle of Hill Giant Strength</em> and a <em>War Hammer +2</em> (including 1 electrical damage). Upon selling everything I didn't need, looting the entire store and disposing off some Pirates in the Dock's tavern, I finally managed to buy my latest item. A mace +2. Finally Anomen is able to do damage to those with protection to +1 weapons.</p><p></p><p>I am currently in the Copper Coronet, trying to dispose of the <em>slavers</em>. It should not prove to be much trouble. Hendak has already been saved and he has thanked me gratefully. Upon writing this, I am preparing myself to enter the <em>Slaver's Ship</em>.</p><p></p><p>I'll make regular updates.</p></blockquote><p></p>
