ATI Graphics Card

I was notified today that I need a driver update for my ATI card (X300 - yeah, bite me). There was a link in the notification - [ https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27 ]. When I visited it I couldn't quit find where my particular driver was located.

Do any of you guys have an ATI and have done this before? Or can someone a little more experienced with video card shit give me a hand? I'm sure it's obvious, I'm just pretty new to it all..

Thx!

I used to have an ATI card, and no I've never got a notice saying that a newer driver was needed. I would go to ATI myself and download the new driver and not click on the link. Also, ATI also recommends that if your video card does not have any problems, then don't upgrade the driver. Only upgrade when you run into problems (with newer games and such).

....

Never use Windows update for drivers accept for things like motherboards and legacy drivers, most windows update are exactly opposite, and out-of-date.

go to www.ati.com

also search for ati drivers on www.webcrawler.com

any further q's ask me on aim: DigitalSwordLo3

Sorry about that Dad - I'm using Windows XP Media Center Edition.

So what's this about not updating - it seems to me that having the most up-to-date driver would always be the best thing to do. So do you think I should hold off? Everything still runs fine in CZ - the times I do play Source or HL2 everything has been fine too, but obviously lesser quality given the whackness of my gear.

Anyway, whatcha think - hold off or go ahead and do what may be the inevitable?

Catalyst 5.5 - that's what Hypnos was thinking I needed. Guess it is. The only reference I had was my current driver's version number, which is like 7.432.14.3 or something.

Thanks for all the responses and Digi, be expecting an IM..
